Menswear Plaids
I love menswear inspired pieces and plaids so put the two together and voila! instant greatness. I haven't seen a lot of this plaid in the past few years and I am really excited it is making it's ways back into the fashion world. These pieces are easy to wear with a solid jacekt for a mix-n-match suiting look or for a chic fall look through on a v-neck sweater.

Mad Men Fashion

This look is very "Lady Like" with high waisted trouser's, full skirts, ankle pants and laces. Banana Republic has even launched a whole "Mad Men" line....which in my opinion might have been a little much, but you can find this style in most all retailer's right now. The high waist trend, when done right looks good on most all body types. High waist trouser's are very elongating on the leg with a tucked in top but be sure to put on a heel...a ballet flat will make you look frumpy.

(dances around the room).

It's a low 83 degrees here in the Bluegrass and it feels amazing! I have spent majority of my afternoon just being lazy and running a few errands. Nothing too exciting or crazy going on these days. During the week I have to dress pretty business casual and I am usually in one brand from head to toe...however, since it's my day off, I thought I'd share one of my Outfit Of The Day for you since I've got some variety in my life....for 24 hours anyhow.

I can't say that I am all that excited for Fall even though the cool down has been nice (and by cool down I mean 95 degrees down to 85 degrees, but really nice, crisp 70 degree mornings) because then winter comes and I'm really not looking forward to snow and ice and brrrrrrr....being cold! I do like to throw on a sweater and jeans every now and then but I do that living in a warm state during the months of January and February (thought of not putting on snow boots makes me smile and being able to use a pool more than 3 months of the year). I picked up this dolman, poncho really light wear-it-now sweater from Target and I wasn't sure if I was keeping it or not as it's really not all that flattering. Having it on all morning has convinced me it's a keeper! I love how comfy and easy it is. It's not something I'm going to be able to wear into the winter, but for $16.99 who cares! I feel like the cut is the new 2011 updated poncho (which was a trend I really wanted to rock back in 2006...but never could quite pull it off) the sleeves are stitched down the underside, unlike a poncho, but it's really flowy and lose. I think it's great piece for a day off but still looks very trendy and a little boho chic.
Nor do I get dropping a ton of money on school clothes. My mom didn't do the whole "back-to-school-shopping" trip. We got a new back-to-school outfit and maybe new shoes (usually tennis shoes, which is hilarious now because I haven't bought tennis shoes since 1999! I just steal my sister's when she gets tired of them). We then got clothes all year long rather than in bulk at the beginning of the year. Which to me, is waaaayyy better! I still shop like that. Some people go months without shopping and buy a bunch new stuff at once. I however would rather buy a few pieces here and there all the time.

I am stoaked to see something on the racks other than skinny (I had to rock my over the knee boots every day possible and that required skinny jeans/jeggings!). The reality of it is: Skinnies are not the most flattering jeans unless you are a 5'10" super model weighing in a 110lbs....I am loving the new skinny flare and the high waisted trouser's which are flattering on most people!

Here are my new fav's and a pair that I picked up at the Limited:

The reality of it is... I cannot wear jean shorts to work so I cannot fathom paying that price for a pair of shorts that may get worn a handful of times this summer. With that being said...I have been looking everywhere for something similar for a better deal. While AE has their new "mini" shorts (that are about 4 inch inseams, which is what the J.Crew short measures when cuffed) and they are somewhat similar but are a little more snug in the leg. So if that is the closet I am going to get then why not make my own cut-off, roll up shorts?

So I did. Just now and it took me about 10 minutes max. I started with an old pair of jeans that I do not wear anymore (they were a little on the short side, so I don't wear them hardly ever!) and did the following steps:

1. Lay out your shorts, smooth flat and cut them off at a longer length than what you want the end product to be. I went with 10 inches.

<img border="0" height="239" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIG1BLK2QVSF_nnTJ2rbIY_UBZF9Lv3_EWOV-HB97q8HrDXDc9-V0HkT9RBP6UymFDQGI8wM7r9ELSEQcFDPF5H3ct-5XtknMmj5gf84FivbWS7xZFLX8WEZ2kajy6vWeD-OlHtSQn_Es/s320/jean+1.bmp" width="320" />

2. Next, I put them on so I could get a better judgment of how short I wanted them, if you cut too much at first, you can't add more back on so less is more in the beginning. Then I cut them up to 7 inches. This way when I cuff them, they will be more at a 4 inch inseam.

<img border="0" height="239" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBUGUgkDJs2Rr5w-8LJgXZEyd2qH8P0oUS_EfnpdtHutGFKhsqMWRIWYOikHLDkCTdc_EISwGv7XVuJkC4RWjQiyxehFMubibDG_AkZGa6ldcbY83rj2CKHMlXtWcMrAbKO57jAEx1blo/s320/jean+2.bmp" width="320" />

3. Cut both legs to match. I also cut little slits on the sides of the shorts as these jeans were a little tighter in the thigh than I wanted, slitting them made them more comfortable when I rolled them. I haven't worn these jeans in at least a year, and I know they stretch out a lot. I know they will be perfect once I sit in them for 15 minutes or so. Roll them or let them fray (if you want more fray, pull some of the threads and then wash them).

Finished Product:

<img border="0" height="239" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMmCqtDsojctTnAwMwKlyy1lNFff9KixlFMi4D0x6dHd1YcXvnProGYZqAT8JX8Zwd-pu_iy3_EdhDW3rC5mm_moj-BVAZTUsJn3HTneAOA5ANSFOIBPo3_rMjBDhibhHgCi9q5rrY4Ds/s320/jean+5.bmp" width="320" />

Now, while they are not the $79.50 denim shorts from J.Crew they will satisfy my need to have a roll up jean short and fit almost identical to the $39.50 Midi's from AE and they cost me nothing.

I have to get ready for work now, but I'll try a full outfit with my new roll-ups this weekend.

Literally. Obsessed. I can not seem to get enough and I am always on the hunt for a new one. It's hard living in a town with not a lot of clothing options, other than the mall brand stores, Limited, Express, Ann Taylor, Loft, etc. My B.F.F. (forever) and I always have the "where the heck did that cute dress come from! We know the inventory of every store in the mall!" conversation every time we see a cute dress on someone. My only guess is these girls budgets for clothing are a lot more than mine and are hitting up the local pricey boutiuqes and well...I can get so much more for $300 than one dress with my employee discount.

One of my new fav line of dresses comes from Jessica Simpson....she really has awesome dresses! If you haven't checked them out, you should! I was so lucky to score these two today, on sale, at Dillards:

<img border="0" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQXO-3gZcr0dI1-deAU_aOv55RFnh13-nDuC9H_WvN3T9dGTAKou1Wak_JrjN1L7qnDx0rGPUNM339yxyd51MchEEYnufTYpqO1z9nRlvAztq_LYmCO7yHTUv_B7k-gg_cl61vGOdhyphenhyphenJ8/s1600/jessica+simpson+1.jpg" />

I really wanted this in green last year and was so excited to see the style back in this adorable white eyelet.

Buy it here (not on sale...but probably on sale at your local Dillards)

The make-up product I have been searching high and low for years. The product that amazes me every time I put it on. It's Urban Decay's "All Nighter" Setting Spray.

<img border="0" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigUn7SdbhS-hPoSOs5yxkXa-nb_KVDiCnyexcCncruGo7N8QIsEQVe1bRynoyb9_vNntOcotS7r08b2rbdhZQCjtK6FZ5Rn2I7gPnpQHNCUSf8H6LpUp_fpwDYibSNiomPUnRAm_APU1E/s1600/urban+decay+all+nighter.jpg" />
How does it work? Once you are finished putting on your entire face of make-up, in a circular motion, spray 2-4 pumps of this miracle product onto your face and wa-la it literally will keep your make-up on your face, looking as good as it did when you finished applying it, for the rest of the day. I used to always look in the mirror around 3 pm and wonder "where did my make-up had go?"...no longer do I have to ask myself that question because this little investment keeps it there till I take it off. It feels like a light mist of water going on your face, does not feel sticky or heavy and it claims to stay on for 16 hours...not sure I have had to have my make-up on for that long, but I do not doubt one bit that it would last that long.

Where can I buy it and how much? You can buy Urban Decay products at Macy's, Ulta, and Sephora. It runs at a pricey $29, but worth every penny if your make-up does a disappearing act like mine does. You can buy a 1oz. sample at Sephora for $11 if you wanna give it a test drive before jumping in $30 deep. It also comes in a dewy version called "Dew Me" and a oil control version called "De-slick."MLRhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00825736482499963831noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4280975643680437144.post-37712794273233298442011-06-14T10:50:00.000-04:002011-06-14T10:50:06.205-04:00Well Hello AgainIt's been a while! I have missed you! A lot has changed over the past few months and it has been forever since I have gotten a free moment to blog. Life has been busy, busy, busy. I really want to get back to doing the things I love and blogging is one of those. I do wanna know what you like best about my blog? Do you like to see outfits, product reviews, here me ramble...etc? I wanna give you more of what you wanna see. Unfortunately, my outfits are going to be a little more bias towards one brand now that I am working in retail again, but I can try and show you ways to mix in new pieces with old pieces.

And now I have to share with you my new found love...Sofft Shoes. Working on my feet for 8+ hours a day on hard wood flooring has not been a joy ride and I was ready to shell out a ton of dough for a pair of shoes that wouldn't kill my feet. I headed to Dillard's to check out Sofft Shoes and Cole Hann Air Pumps. After an hour of trying on different shoes with an adorable little old man (If you know me, you know I have a special place in my heart for little old men) I left with these awesome new Sofft Shoes.

Sofft shoes is made by Born (which is not so trendy...but oh-so-comfy) and these shoes are did not let me down in the comfy department. They are listed around $100 online but I snagged a pair at Dillard's for $49.99! I get so many compliments on them from the young and the old. Plus I can wear them for 8 hours straight and not feel like I want to saw my feet off.

More to come! I promise. Maybe not daily, but hopefully I'll be able to give you something to read through 1-2 days a week.

MLRhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00825736482499963831noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4280975643680437144.post-73670386344714262802011-04-24T21:43:00.000-04:002011-04-24T21:43:38.420-04:00Build your Ark, the flood is coming!O.M.G....It is never going to stop raining here in good ol' Kentucky! I am pretty sure I should start looking for wood and collecting my animals because I may need to start building an Ark if this rain keeps on. I would love to see the sun shine, wear my fairly new RL sunglasses, and to not have to carry around my broken umbrella (thank you 30 mph wind for destroying my J.Crew umbrella...no really, I appreciated that!).

On a brighter, less rainy and miserable note, I have gotten some really cute pieces from The Limited over the past week and wanted to share! As I was pulling the pictures I had to stop and laugh-out-loud because majority of what I picked up is either white or cream. Oh could I be more boring? I just can't help it...I love neutrals!

First is this OBR (Outback Red, a casual Limited line) Blazer. I have already worn it three times over the past 8 days. Look awesome with my skinny 917 jeans and the cream lace tank (that you will see below), the white skirt, and with the cream lace skirt (all also seen below).

Puff Sleeve Jacket

This lace tank is so beautiful on! Now THE lace skirt! Va-va-Voom is how I feel when I have this on. It's a little shorter than a regular pencil, but I am okay with showing a little leg (wink, wink).

Eyelet Skirt

I really like to wear the cream lace tank tucked into the lace pencil skirt. It almost appears to be a cream lace dress when paired together. Would've made an awesome Keeneland outfit, but I didn't make it out there this spring. The perfect topper is this mauve colored cardi.

Shadow Stripe Cardigan

I have a new found obsession with pencil skirts...as if one light colored pencil skirt wasn't enough...I went and got this white sateen pencil skirt which can be worn with just about anything. I really hate wearing pants in the summer so I usually opt for a dress or a skirt. The heavy sateen is perfect for concealing your "delicates" but not to heavy for those warm 90 degree days that will (fingers crossed) be here before we know it.

I have started a new job, turned 30 (eek! can't believe I just said that out loud....I kid, it really doesn't bother me all that much), spent my birthday on the beautiful beach of Fort Lauderdale and it all seems like a blur. Life is good, I cannot complain. Other than the fact that the weather has been a bit of a downer as it is so up and down. Can a girl just get some warm spring weather? I have cute new things I need to wear!

One of my favorite stores, The Limited ran an awesome 40% off the whole store sale this past weekend and I snatched up some great sales pieces! Including this Trench featured in their national ads for $29.99! Say What?!
All other brands out there do it) but now I could pick out at least 5 shoes that I think I cannot live without. These sandals I got a few weeks back started my addiction. You can see I am a little splotchy (left picture) up around my arms and arm pits from where I did Versa on Saturday night...the picture on the left was taken on Wednesday morning. So you can see how fast the color faded with the Versa Spa Medium Spray (after three full days I was almost pasty white again). The airbrush tan (on the right) was taken today (Friday morning) and I did a treatment on Wednesday afternoon (so almost two full days and I'm not where near pasty white). The color is so natural looking and really does last a lot longer than my Versa Spa spray.
My airbrush is courtesy of No Lines Tanning. Located here in Lexington, on Pasadena Drive inside the Hair Cafe. I have truely missed you! Please accept my apologizes for abandoning you. I have been so, so busy. I recently wrapped up at my old job and went straight into my new job. Hopefully towards the end of April I get sometime to breath!

I get numerous questions about airbrush tanning and I would like to think of myself as an expert on this since most people try it a handful of times and give up since it can be a little high maintence to commit to "spray/fake" tan. As many of you know, I am turining the big 3-0 (eek!) next week and with age comes wrinkles, age spots, saggy skin, etc and I decided last March that I had put my skin through enough the previous 29 years and vowed to forever stay out of the tanning beds and to always lather myself up with SPF 30 anytime I am going to be out in the sun for long periods of time (for example when I am sun bathing on the beautiful Miami Beach for my 30th Birthday!). Being a natural red (auburn) head, tanning is not something that comes natural or easy to me. I have to work really, really hard to get a beautiful-bronzed-beach body....that was until I came across airbrush tanning.

Now when I first started "spraying" last March, I began with Sun Tan City's Versa Spa.What is Versa Spa you ask? Versa Spa is like the Cadillac version of Mystic Tanning (a spray tanning booth many of you may be familiar with that tends to leave people looking a little on the orange side). Versa Spa has nozzels that spray you as they move up and down the front of the booth. You will stand in four different positions to ensure even coverage (from what I remember of Mystic you only get sprayed front and back). You can opt for different colors: Clear Light, Medium, and Dark and Bronze Light, Medium, and Dark. If you go this option I have found the best results with Clear Medium (and nice touch of color) and Clear Dark (looks like you spent a week on the beach). I was a HUGE fan of the Versa Spa (photo below)...until I discovered airbrush tanning.

Airbrush Tanning is much more customized and is done by an Airbrush Tech. Soooo....someone sprays your entire body while you stand their in a swimsuit, underwear, or nude (completely your preference...I choose to do undies only as I didn't like having the bathing suit top lines). I have been going to No Lines Tanning here in Lexington (located over on Pasenda Drive, inside the Hair Cafe) so I can't speak to all airbrush tanning places here in town but NLT is incredible! The color is a beautiful, natural golden bronze color and the spray they use is made of natural ingredients. In less than 10 minutes I can have a color I could never achieve by laying out in the sun. NLT offer's an array of "colors": Medium- a light sunkissed color (rarely used...but I assume it's close to the Clear Light/Medium at Sun Tan City, Dark- my color of choice (and I get two coats "painted on" as my husband refer's to it), and then Extra Dark- think Jersey Shore Snooki tan... I cannot speak highly enough of NLT! I always get tons of compliments on my color (when people find out it's fake) and the team there makes you feel super comfortable when you standing there in nothing but your skeevies.

note: This is not me...(I wish my stomach was that flat)...just some random picture I found on google to giev you an idea of what happens during an airbrush tanning session.

Spray tanning can be a little high maintence until you get used to doing it but to me it's totally worth it to not expose my skin to the hard UVA/UVB rays in a tanning bed that cause not only pre-mature aging (can I get some botox please?) but also skin cancer. So here are tips to help you get the most out of your spray tan!

1. Do any Grooming that you may need to do a day or so in advance. These are things like getting your mani/pedi (acetone will take the tan off), get your eyebrows/lip/bikini area waxed probably two days in advance. If it's too close the spray will stick to the areas with wax...if it's done after then it can rip off the color.

2. Exfoliate and moisturize you skin well, everyday, all the time. Your hands and feet will always be the driest parts of your body. The extreme dry areas will suck in the most color, making them look darker or possibly even "orange". I usually shower, using a loofa to exfoliate my skin, shave all needed areas, and then moisturize my whole body after my shower. You will want to wait at least an hour after showering before you go spray. I will usually spray at night then do a next morning shower. You will be given barrier cream pre-spray to lather up your hands and feet. Don't be scared of barrier cream, more is more!

3. Take off your make up before you spray. This way you can wait till the next morning to wash your face...which will give you a better color. If you wash too early then you will have a tan body and a white face (fail!).

4. Wear loose clothing home from the salon. Anything tight can rub the color off as it is drying. I usually pack pajama pants, t-shirt (long sleeves if it's raining), and flip flops to wear home. Also pack an umbrella if it's looking a little grey outside. You do not want to get wet as your color is setting and rain can leave you splotchy.

5. Do not shower for 8+ hours. I find that my color does best if I go spray around 5 pm then shower then next morning at 7 am, which is more than 12 hours. Do not use a loofa in the shower or an exfoliating scrub as it will make your color fade away faster. The color sticks to you top layer of skin and fades away as your dead skin cells come off. Exfoliating removes that dead skin, which removes your color faster. Pat yourself dry with your towel. DO NOT RUB! Also steer clear of white towels, sheets, and clothes as the first day you will notice color rub off. If you do get it on your whites, don't worry, it will come out...but it's gross to look at until you do.

6. I tend to use hand sanitzier over soap during this period as your hands and feet seem to fade the fastest. We all need to wash our hands to stay germ free, but it will fade your color to wash them a million times a day.

7. I also try to sleep in long pants and a long sleeved shirt so that the color doesn't rub off on my white sheets. But you do not want to sweat either...sweating after your spray can leave you splothy too. I have noticed if I get too hot at night then my sheets will be stained with big brown tan spots (ewe, gross, I know!) but it will wash out. So don't put brand new clean sheets on the night of your spray cause you are more than likely going to want to wash them in the next day or so.

Last but not least, go out into the world and be a bronzed bombshell! Once you get the hang of all the things mentioned above you will be hooked on "Spraying." You will notice how much more beautiful, healthy, and clear you skin will be versus when you tan in a tanning bed. Tomorrow I will post pictures of my before and after pics of my airbrush tan. Today's color is a little skewed since I just sprayed this afternoon and the spray comes out bronze (the tech has to see where they put the color). The color will be a little different and even more beautiful tomorrow after I shower.

No Lines Tanning offer's some great packages including: $50 unlimited for a month (same as Sun Tan City's Versa spa, minus the 6 month contract), student discounts, and $10 Tuesdays. Now I opt for the prep spray which is an additional on top of $10 Tuesday for $5 and helps eliminate any dry areas and makes your spray more even. It's is a revolutionary break through in the Manicure world. A polish that claims to last 14 fulls days without any chips dullness, and you are dries almost instantly. Say what?! Now, back in January I had a similar polish applied called Gelish. It claims all the same things, but I found it was a lot thicker of a polish and looked more like a "fake" polish acrylic nail. None the less it lasted 10 days and then I began picking at it....

Here is my first Shellac manicure:

Shellac Fedora-Day 1

So how does it work? The process begins with a normal manicure: clipping, shaping, buffing, cutical remover, and arm massage (ah, relaxing). The nail tech will remove your cuticles a little more than normal as you do not want this polish to stick to them or your skin. It is not easy to get back off. Next, the nail bed is cleaned one more time with nail polish remover to ensure the base coats attaches itself nicely. First, the base coat of Shellac is applied and then is cured with a UV light. Second, the nail tech will apply two color coats (there are not a lot of colors to chose from...only down fall), again cured under a UV light between each coat. Lastly, the Shellac top coat is applied and then again cured under a UV light for a bit longer than the previous applications. Finally the nail tech will clean the top coat with alcohol...it's very odd, because the nail comes out of the UV light sticky and then wa-la it is smooth and shiny once rubbed with alcohol.

To remove...I do not recommend peeling it off like I did last time as it will rip off the top layer of your nail. The nail salon should remove it. They apply these cotton balls soaked in polish remover and cover them with nail tips. 10 minutes later you are Shellac free and ready for a new color. Here in Lexington this can run you anywhere from $23-$35ish. It can also be used for a pedicure as long as the salon has the UV foot machine.

Hold tight and we'll see if Shellac holds up to the 14 day challenge!

UPDATE: How's the Shellac holding up? See for yourself:
Work has been so busy, I've been trying to be a good P90X student and get in at least 5 of the 6 days (shew it's really hard to get them all in), and I just feel exhausted...not to mention my new found obsession with Dexter (found on showtime). I know I have done a lot of outfits, a lot of "wish list" type of posts and I thought I might start adding "Product Reviews" to the blog. I always want to know what other's think of a product before I run out and buy it, so I am going to fill you in new products I love and products I could've done without.

The Reality of it All's first product review is Bare Mineral's Exfoliating Treatment Cleanser.

Now let me start with a disclaimer. If you go to the Bare Minerals store before March 3, you will not see this product in this packaging on the shelf. You will find it in a cream bottle labeled "Rare Minerals". But it is the same product...the old packaging is about $4.00 cheaper right now as they are trying to get rid of the old packaging.

A friend of mine raved about this product and I had to go in to see it because I could not even begin to imagine how it worked. This is a powder cleanser...I mean duh...almost all Bare Minerals stuff is a powder. What I couldn't understand was how a powder turns into a cleanser...Is it like dry shampoo? and if so how did that work on your face? The benefits include: completely organic, cleans off the gunk, promises to deliver brighter, smoother skin, and smaller pores. I could not wait to get this home and give it a whirl.

How to use it: First put about a teaspoon of the powder in your wet hand, rub it with your fingers and it will magically become a liquid. It is not really foamy but not what I would consider a creamy cleanser either. You can rub it really smooth or leave it a little gritty depending on if you want more or less exfoliating. What I loved was how it made my skin feel after washing the product off my face. It was smooth and silky. Now, I have only used this one night, so I can't say my pores are smaller yet...but I did immediately like the way it made my skin feel.
I have very sensitive skin and a lot of cleanser's can irritate my skin, leaving it red and burning (no, I don't have rosacea). The fact that it is organic and doesn't have chemicals in it is a plus for me. The better you start taking care of your skin while you are young then the longer it will last you, and that includes chemicals that strip your skin, leaving it dry and dull. I tend to like most all things Bare Minerals, even though I don't use all their products. I have yet to find one Bare Minerals product that I don't like. This cleanser does have a smell (even though the sales lady tried to tell me it didn't), it's a very light organic smell, almost spa like. It very much reminds me of this incredible line of skin care called Indigenous, from an Indian Reservation out in Chandler, AZ that I have visited.

Another win (for me) is the price at $24.00. I really have a hard time convincing myself to spend much more than this for a cleanser, and if you have shopped around for cleansers you know not many are on this lower end that are actually good. The Bare Minerals Boutique also has a great rewards program, so I suggest signing up if you are a loyal customer.

Verdict: LOVE IT!MLRhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00825736482499963831noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4280975643680437144.post-15871101375897159282011-02-24T22:15:00.000-05:002011-02-24T22:15:55.162-05:00A Little Taste of SpringThere is nothing worse than getting a little taste of spring, with a warm, sunny 65-degree day. It's literally all I can think about, constantly checking weather.com to see when we will get another beautiful spring like day. I blame you ground hog for making us think spring is coming soon. You get our hopes up, throw in one Georges day, let us get just little flavor of spring, and then smash it all to pieces. Oh how I long for a spray tan, bright summer nail polish, subtle warm highlights, golden bronzer, flowey dresses, sandals to bare my manicured toes, and the smell of fresh cut grass (I might be the only person who buys that Yankee Candle...is that weird) Spring is the sign of something new and fresh and after this dreary cold winter, I could use new and fresh.

Some flavor's I'm craving:
Today was so absolutely wonderful! Well the weather was anyhow. I have been holding onto this fushia shirt from Limited that I have been dying to wear for weeks now, but didn't want to cover it up with a jacket or sweater. With 65 degree weather, it got to make it's debut into the world!

In case you are wondering, no I have not been on vacation (I wish I have though), I couldn't resist myself when I saw it would be in the mid 60's this week and hit up my favorite airbrusher's over at No Lines Tanning for $10 Tuesdays to become instantly bronzed. I can't debut tomorrow's outfit with that pasty body I was sporting around. Tune in tomorrow to find out what it is! Can I go to bed now, so that I can wake up and wear it faster?!? Please.

Oh wait I can't go to bed, I haven't done my daily dose of P90X. Update: I am doing really well at keeping up with the workouts and have made it to week four (last time I only finished two weeks...I have workout commitment issues). Now can I muster up some motivation to kick out some Kempo Karate before crashing on the couch, as I'm sure the hubs will want to watch 15 episodes of Dexter (his Valentines day gift....I'm a good wife, huh?) since he is completely addicted now with only two episodes.
Gosh I do love this top! I'm in a time machine and Christmas really is right around the corner, 2.) the out-of-towners didn't get the memo that UK was playing in Nashville this weekend and not at home, or 3.) that Valentine's day is as huge as Christmas and people will start putting up trees and placing presents under it. Yeah!!! Presents.

None the less, I managed to find a parking spot and shove my way through the overcrowded mall to use my Chase Rewards Macy's gift card. Timing could not have been more perfect to pick up my new Ralph Lauren Aviator Shades from Macy's-Sunglass Hut for the next few days of beautiful sunshine and 55 degree weather.

I also managed to score this dress I had been eyeing at Ann Taylor since Christmas. Goes to show, if you wait long enough, it will go on sale. Originally priced at $138, I took it home for all of $44.00! Oh I absolutely cannot wait to wear this! Come on spring!
It's true. She loves playing these evil, evil games where she drops all this white stuff from the sky. Then she sits back and watches as everyone panics as they try to drive home in this mess. Seven miles should not take an hour to drive home from work, never, ever. Period.

Let's just say I did not pick the right shoes for frolicking through a winter wonderland. Do I need to pack my Uggs around daily, I mean seriously. The weather man has mentioned the possibility of highs reaching the 60's next week. I hope he hasn't jumped on board the Mother Nature boat to play with our emotions.

I am sitting on three new tops that I am just dying to wear, but are either short sleeves, sheer, or a wonderful spring color that I just can't bring myself to wear with this blah, pale skin and brutal fidgid weather.

Here's a work appropriate remix of my new favorite NYC embelished nautical t-shirt.

I decided that since January was over and my no-buying challenge had come to an end (tear), that I would not post an outfit daily. Little did I know, my readers enjoyed my OTD (Outfit of The Day) posts. Awe. Blushes. But it really does take a lot outta a girl to snap a photo daily and blog nightly. Not that I don't love doing it, because I do.

So let's make a deal. I'll try to post an outfit at least every other day. Sometimes my outfits are boring and normal like jeans and a long sleeved-t and I don' t see a need to post those (i.e., Sunday's lazy day outfit!). Some outfits are totally post worthy and those deserve to have their debut to the world.

Now can we get to what is really important here! How horrible was that half-time show last night? I don't love the Black-Eyed Peas, but I was pretty stoaked that the Super Bowl had booked someone with has had a hit song in the last year (ugh, who really cares about The Who, who is under 40? Sorry if you are under 40 and you do, I'm just trying to make a point). Oh Janet, you couldn't just keep your boob in your top and not have a malfunctioning wardrobe? The rest of us are paying for it. The only reason I even suffer through watching three hours of football is to see the half-time show. I knew I shouldn't have wasted my time. Even if the sound team hadn't of screwed up the entire start of the show, the show still would have sucked. And Mrs. Fergalicious please do not ever, ever, ever sing "O Sweet Child of Mine," not even in the shower when you are alone! Oh it's horrible! My ears are still in pain. Maybe they will learn from their mistakes and booked Justin Bieber next year. Oh baby!

Outfit time!

Watch out! I'm changing it up on you a little bit...leaning to the left (my right). I like to get a little crazy every now and then. This is another J. Crew inspired outfit. I picked up this grey tank back around Christmas 09' when I saw it on a maniquin styled over this black turtle neck. It's such a great way to take your warm weather pieces and mix-it-up a bit for cold weather days.

I love Friday's and not just because it is the end of the week and the start to the weekend but because in general everyone is in a better mood, you feel like you have finally accomplished something for the week, and in my world it's JEAN day!!! Whoot Whoot! I love jean day. However does anyone else have the hardest time finding jeans that fit well? I am not one to spend $100 plus on a pair of jeans. Just cannot bring myself to do it. Maybe one day but when I can only wear them to work one day a week, I just can't justify the purchase. I shop all the normal people places for my jeans: Gap, Limited, AE,and Express. My favorites jeans...until today...were my Gap Always Skinny jeans and I think another pair has just moved on in and stolen the spotlight. All thanks to Limited and their wonderful coupons. I totally took advantage of the $50 off $150. And then you put your jeans (and pants) on sale. Oh how wonderful you are! This means getting jeans and a few tops! Oh how fulfilling it can be to go shopping! These infamous jeans are The Limited 917 Black Skinny Jean! They are everything the reviews say they are. The fit is lower rise (for Limited), fitted everywhere like a glove but with the amazing stretch of a jegging. To me the color looks like really dark jean more than black jean but they are suppose to be black (but not like black-black jeans...sometimes I do not like those). Maybe I'm coming down with color blindness in my old age.

Top: The Limited Stripe Pattern Top

Jeans: The Limited 917 Black Skinny Jean

Shoes: DSW Katie and Kelly Sloan Wedge

Bracelets: Express and Limited

The other reason this Friday was fabulous is because it was Brazilian Blowout Day. As a naturally, frizzy, wavy hair person this is the best thing since sliced bread. True Story. For those of you who have not heard of this product and treatment, the Brazilian Blowout is a smoothing treatment to help tame the crazies. Seen on stars like Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Richie and Halle Barry (if you watched "Simple Life" with Nicole and Paris you have probably thought...how did Nicole tame that hot mess of her's...now you know). It takes about two hours to complete the entire process and it is not cheap (well compared to getting a highlight or color...not sure what the comparison is of other hair processes) but the time I get back getting ready in the morning is worth every penny of it. My hair is smooth, shiny, silky, frizz free (even in the humid Florida climate), and fixes in half the time it would normally take. Now, to be clear this is not a straightening process but a smoothing treatment. However many people will find that their hair is perfectly straight or much, much straighter from the treatment. My hair with the treatment still air dries wavy, but if I just use a blowdryer and pull the strands tight with my hand, I can achieve the same silky results I would with a round brush and flat iron. I am actually looking forward to washing and drying my hair tomorrow.

Let's hope the rest of this weekend follows in fabulous Friday's footsteps!
MLRhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00825736482499963831noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4280975643680437144.post-61147014814839197322011-02-02T20:46:00.000-05:002011-02-02T20:46:31.743-05:00The Challenge: Outfit #25Happy Groundhog Day Readers!!

Let me just say...if that ground hog had seen his shadow then things could've gotten really, really ugly! I am hopeful that since he did not see his shadow then maybe, just maybe spring will arrive....um....tomorrow?!

Without hope...we have nothing.

I know, I shouldn't complain because we didn't get any snow yesterday, just crazy "Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch is about to get a house dropped on her" kind of wind! It was gusting up to 60+ miles an hour and was enough to wake me at 3am to ponder whether I should get up and relocate to the bottom level of the house just-in-case a tornado touches down. The pondering lasted about three minutes and then I was over it. I was way too toasty to move (as we discussed Monday...I don't like getting out of bed once I'm in it).

Today's outfit consisted of items that I have owned for two+ years. I loved these pants when I first got them back in 2007 just as the highwaisted trend starting coming back. I do believe I recently saw "paper bag pants" (which are practically these pants) on The Limited's website which inspired me to dig these out of the back of the closet. I obviously need to drop a few more pounds before I wear them again because I busted the clasp off them. Eek! Oh well...guess I shouldn't of had pizza for lunch (oh but it was so yummy!). More P90X, less carbs how do I get that into my head?

They hurt really bad. Not the actual shot it's self...honestly I didn't even know the needle went in my arm. But an hour later...holy moly the worst pain I have ever felt set in. Sore Arm + P90X = even harder to do! I suffered on through it and I'm hoping my arm will feel better tomorrow since I worked it out (with my luck it'll probably feel like it's going to fall off instead.)

Now. Focus. Outfit. The whole purpose of this post.

Have you ever purchased something that you thought was really cute in the store, wore it once or twice, and now you just really are not feeling it? That's this sweater for me. I loved it on the mannequin. I liked it when I tried it on in the store. Now, I just make myself wear it but every time I do I feel frumpy. It is not a flattering sweater but a plus is it's a comfy outfit with leggings. I've tried a white shirt, red shirt, dark grey shirt, black shirt (obviously), jeggings, dress pants, and leggings. I should have left on the rack.

Please forgive the rained on ponytail, not my most flattering hair-do. While the rest of the world is under a blizzard warning, we are just getting lots and lots of rain.

We have all survived Monday! They are always the hardest to climb out of bed after being spoiled all weekend with sleeping in, having breakfast in bed (leggo my eggo) and watching old movies on Comedy Central till at least noon. Ohhh I am so not a morning person...never have been, never will be. Especially since it's been weeks since I've had a coke (a-cola that is in case there was any confusion) and I don't drink regular coffee (those yummy Starbucks drinks have just as many calories as the coke...and I'd rather have the coke!) Once Monday's down the rest of the week is a breeze.

Is anyone ready for the biggest snow storm of the year...I'm pretty sure the news casters have said that each and every time we've had a snow storm. We (Kentucky) are lucky to only get rain this time around because I am O-V-E-R the snow. Super happy I paid $7 to wash my car Sunday when I could have just let it get rained on and got achieved the same effect- salt removal.

Speaking of rain, I really, really, really want a pair of Hunter rain boots. Please, pretty please? I have a birthday coming up soon and they would be perfect for those April showers (hint, hint). And hubs if you are reading this...I'll make this easy for you. I don't want you to buy me boots, I want you to buy me the new iPhone 4. I even bolded just incase you are skimming the blog.

So what did I wear today? I know you are just dying to find out. So I'll quit blabbing and show you already.

Cheap sunglasses I'll buy for days, but a good investment pair give me the most trouble. I want to make sure I am really picking a pair that will last me for years (like my current Ralph's picked up a few years back). I have it narrowed down to two options...but just can't decide. Both are trendy but classic and have been around for a few years. I really want them both but I can only get one. The price's are identical and they are practically free since I will be cashing in Chase rewards for a Sunglass Hut gift card. (If you are not a Chase Rewards member, then you are missing out!)

The sunglasses I currently own and wear quite often are these Ralph Tortoise Shells:
The only things I had on my to-do list were: Wash the car, use my free lunch coupon for IChing, and get a Mani/Pedi. Check, Check, and Check! Now I am killing time waiting for the hubs to get home from the airport.
Today's outfit was to be practical (my jeans had to be able to roll up to get my pedi and this can be a challenge with skinnies) and I really wanted to wear my new nautical striped T-shirt that I picked up from NYC yesterday....Oh and can I vent on NYC for a brief moment...all week they had the entire store B1G1 50% off. I had been eyeing the shirt shown below and this yellow cardi in their facebook profile pic. Well wouldn't you know that I was holding out to the weekend (as close to the end of my challenge as possible) to head out there and snatch these pieces up (with my $40 off a $100 purchase coupon) and the sale changed to tops 50% off with purchase of pants Saturday morning. WTH! I want the B1G1 sale back!

Oh well....as you can see, I bought them anyhow. I was hoping to get more for less, but it is what it is.
