Dog Collar Flowers

I worked on a new project last night, along with some dog and a cat silhouette. I want to make felt dog collar flowers. I went to Michael's for the third day in a row this week and got a bunch of different color felt and some other tools I thought I would need. The one thing I didn't get was a way to attach the flowers. I am thinking I can attach grosgrain ribbon to the back with velcro and that should make for an easy on/off flower. I finished two last night (the large red one seen here and a small pink one for Maddy). I hope to get a handful more done over the weekend for my furry friends (other friends with girl dogs) and have presents for friends on Monday or Tuesday of next week. I'm not sure when I am really going to get all this accomplished as I have committed to doing at least 8 more silhouettes. I love doing this and hope to maybe have a little craft shop Mayfest next May in downtown Lexington. Visit my shop, For the Love of Dogs or my Esty shop

Manic Monday

Jesse has been gone since last Friday, which can make for a lonely weekend, lonely week, and boring life. I try to surround myself with my friends when he's out of town, it's such a great balance of friends and husband, but this past weekend my favorite lunch buddy (you know who you are) was out of town. Her and her mom (along with the rest of the family) thought they should go on vacation. Who ever heard of such. So having the whole weekend off...you would think I would come up with my crazy craft projects then. OH NO...I have to wait till Monday to be hit with a brilliant craft idea.

I saw these adorable dog silhouettes on the Pottery Barn website and was for sure I could replicate. I wanted mine to be of my three dogs. So the wheels started turning. I first thought I would just get white paper and get black card stock. But that would be too easy. I experimented back in 2009 with freezer paper stencils and figured it was be just as easy to do on canvas. So that is what I went with. I googled each of my dogs and made them into a silhouette.

I am so happy with how they turned out and can't wait to get them hung this weekend. I have already had 10 dogs requested and a handful of others that want to get pictures of their dogs to make into Silhouettes.

The Saga Continues

1 day till ECLIPSE!!! Nuff said.

Leave Aluminum to the Cans!

I just bought my first bottle of natural deodorant....EEK! So far it is working quite well, but I've also been in an air conditioned office all day. Most deo's active ingredient is Aluminum Salt which is also proven to cause Alheizmer's and other neurological disorders. People have been wearing it for years, but it is a toxin that is being released into your body (as many other daily products we use do). I have switched to sulfate free shampoo over the past year so I figured why not give this a go. Does this mean I won't ever go back to using regular deodorant? I don't know...ask me after another 97 degree day and I'll let you know my final answer.

Brazilian Blowout

The new celebrity trend in beautiful hair is the Brazilian Blowout. I discovered this amazing product from my little 12 year-old friend. You know you are getting old when you have to find out what's cool from a 12 year-old...Celebs that get blowouts: Nicole Richie, Halley Barrie, Ashley Tisdale, Lindsay Lohan and supposivley my fav...Jennifer Aniston!

The procedure creates a protective protein layer around the hair shaft to leave you with frizz-free, smooth, shiney hair. It takes about an hour and a half to complete the whole process and will last around 10-12 weeks. The only downfall is the cost...it runs between $200-$300 here in Lexington and only a few salons offer it.

Brazilian Blowout
Here is a before and after picture:

I am going to give it a whirl two saturdays from now! I'll post before and after pictures. I am hoping to shave 30+ minutes off my daily straightening routine and not be so worried about getting my hair wet because I don't want to spend the time re-straightening it.

Cross you fingers that it's as incredible as everyone says it is!

Check out a youtube video of the procedure:

WICKED Realization!

Okay, so I might be behind, but the light just turned on in the cartoon bubble above my head.
Glee's vocal adrenaline coach:

Is none other than: ELPHIE!!!

What a WICKED resemblence her and rachel have! CREEPY.

WAKEY!WAKEY!

Kidd Kraddick featured this band on his "Music That Makes You Cooler" and I was instantly in love. WAKEY!WAKEY! features a very musical, dramatic, story telling sound. Check'em out here and let me know what you think. They will be performing at Covington's Mad Hatter on June 18th.

Rompin Around

I am such a fan of this new trend. Some Rompers I have seen are a little on the skanky side and only worthy of being a bathing suit cover-up. These Limited Rompers are so adorable and are on my MUST HAVE list! I think I should break down, give in, and buy myself the little one shoulder one.
